Deploying Windows XP Through Network With OpenQRM 4.8
Wednesday, June 29, 2011
In my previous post, "How To Install OpenQRM 4.8 on CentOS 5.6" , you already knew how to install OpenQRM. Today, I will guide you how to deploy Windows XP through Network. That means after deploying, you won't need any hard drive in your machine anymore. Moreover, you just need a monitor with PoE function.
First of all, If you want to deploy windows XP, you need a local hard drive to install the OS first then copy all hard drive to iSCSI LUN. After install the OS, you have to install some software to support iSCSI function.
+ Microsoft iSCSI Initiator
+ Windows SAN Boot Configuration Driver
Remember to start some plugins for deployment.
Then reboot your machine with Network Boot. When your machine is in idle, copy all the content of hard disk into iSCSI LUN which you just create on your openQRM server. You can follow my previous post to do it. Then you create an image and appliance based on your new storage. Start your appliance then remove your hard disk on Windows XP Machine. It'll work great!
